Read 3 Short Poems Tupac Wrote When He Was 17-Years-Old
Tupac’s impact on hip-hop will never be forgotten. His many sides and character traits make him an enigmatic figure to this day. Pac could be the toughest of gangstas on one song and a mama’s boy on another. But it was his love for humanity and people in general that helped him connect with fans from all walks of life. Today (Oct 30), 3 short handwritten poems written by Tupac when he was 17-years-old have surfaced online. They show a side of the late rapper rarely showcased in this light.
Noisey was provided previously unreleased handwritten poetry through our friends Citizens of Humanity by his first manager, Leila Steinberg. The poems, written over a three year period starting when the rapper was 17, offer a glimpse of Tupac before many people knew him. With the hope of beginning to understand the significance of Tupac Shakur on today’s modern world, we asked writer Jeff Weiss, who co-wrote 2Pac vs. Biggie: An Illustrated History of Rap’s Greatest Battle, to pen an essay on why we care.
