Tracy Morgan May Never Perform Again, Lawyer Says
In June, comedian Tracy Morgan was involved in a six-vehicle crash that left him in critical condition. Though Morgan was more responsive in the past few months, his lawyer, Benedict Morelli, says the “jury is out” on his return to the stage.
“The doctors don’t know the answer. I don’t know the answer,” Morelli said about Morgan performing in the future, according to a report from Page Six.
The update comes after Walmart pointed the finger at Morgan, citing that he and the other passengers weren’t wearing seat belts, shifting the blame off the driver, who hadn’t slept in 24 hours and allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.
“After I heard what Walmart said in court, I felt I had to speak out, I can’t believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident they caused,” Morgan said in a statement. “I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time.”
The crash left Morgan, with broken ribs, a broken nose and a broken leg. His friend, comedian James McNair, was also killed, while two others were injured. Though the accident cost the 45-year-old funny man a show and film, Morgan is still working towards his comeback.
“I love you all,” he said. “I’m fighting hard every day to get back.”
