An Open Letter to Wiz Khalifa and Future: Why ‘Pussy Overrated’ Is Complete BS

Dear Wiz Khalifa and Future,

If you are searching for a coping mechanism to deal with the loss of your women, misguided “anthems” are not the answer. Especially when they attempt to assert something as preposterous as “pussy is overrated.” -Management

I call bullshit.

Amber Rose and Ciara’s exes lost sight of their chill—among other things—this week. On their new collaboration, “Pussy Overrated,” Wiz and Fewtch proceeded to (try to) denounce the power of the P, but we all know better. Or at least we should, seeing as how that “overrated” sexual organ is currently the source of their woes… but that’s none of our business. *sips tea*

Despite however you two have strayed the course, let’s try to get you back on track. You may have forgotten a few things about the almighty box, but your peers are here to remind you. Gather ‘round.

“The power of the p-u-s-s-y/ That’s why every motherfucker in the world dress fly” – Jay Z

Referring to “pussy” as “overrated” ensures that you have the game fucked up, sir. For one, it treats the vagina like an entity that must measure up to some (likely ass-backwards) rating system. And two, the claim is simply not true. Women and our ‘pussies” are the most prominent source of motivation for everything men do. From success, to money, to fame, to notoriety, men strive to procure the validation that comes with the relinquishing of the vagina.

“Pussy is power/ That proud feeling we get knowin’ that pussy is ours/ And how it feels to feel that feeling/ You feeling when you be drillin’ that shit/ Got her sayin’ you be killin’ that shit” -J. Cole

Future attempts to displace responsibility by asserting that a woman is “supposed to fuck him like a star,” but we know that’s not how this shit actually works. Fellas, lining up your Johnson with a ruler won’t give you the satisfaction you seek. Face it: the pseudo “power of the D” is nestled comfortably inside the walls of that “overrated” vagina. Blast this track at ignorant levels if you wish, but never let the truth escape you: the “pussy” owes you nothing. We don’t feel more like a woman after sex, you feel more like a man.

“Oh what a thrill/ Inside a btch feel/ Gotta be strong to handle it, it’s real/ Pussy kills/ Backshots keep a nigga open/Bitch’ll have niggas gun smoking/ Pussy kills” -Nas

This track warrants a response from Nicki Minaj—you know, the woman running laps around this male-dominated game. Aside from the female body possessing the ability to give life, there is also a lethal component to the “pussy.” While actually killing someone over it is just plain senseless, the vagina houses the talent to annihilate a man’s pride in ways that force him to attempt to render it—and women—powerless. But perhaps it would serve men better to go the R. Kelly route and continuously offer the box its due praise; no doubt that has been pretty fruitful for him.

Of course, the bigger issue here are the various ways in which women are reduced from their minds to their bodies and then simultaneously bashed for them both. But don’t subscribe to the lies, ladies. There is nothing wrong with owning, and wielding, the power of the “pussy.”

“Pussy run everything, fuck that noise.” – Drake
