50 Cent Gives Another Two Cents On Kanye West’s High Fashion Pursuits
50 Cent recently appeared at a Century 21 in NYC’s Financial District and spoke about Kanye West’s high fashion pursuits. In an interview with Fashionista, he expounded on an idea he shared earlier this year that ‘Ye’s goal is “not something that just happens.”
An excerpt from the story reads:
What 50 was saying is that it's hard to be that person who's completely outside of the business trying to get his or her ideas in the door — not any knock on West's ability. "[The high end fashion designers] have been passionate about [fashion] for a very long time and worked to get to where they are and are not so prone to just letting people come in and just turning into a big deal," he says.
50 also compared Kanye’s segue into fashion to his own career expansion to acting. Detailing the idea of being the newcomer to a field, Fiddy talked about the frustrations people in the fashion world may have with Yeezy’s seemingly sudden entrance.
"There are really talented people [already in the business] and it kind of irks them that the person who’s been receiving the opportunity — that they really want and have been working, preparing for it for a long time — just comes out of somewhere else.”
West debuted his “Cruel Summer” heels two years ago to critical acclaim. He also designed some pieces for luxe brand A.P.C. that were sought after, but the price tags didn’t go over so well with the masses.
So, does 50 have a point?
