Prince Performed On ‘SNL’ For 8 Minutes, And It Was Still Too Short
Last night’s momentous Saturday Night Live episode not only featured Chris Rock’s return to the show’s stage after 18 years, but it was also Prince’s first appearance on the show since 2006. Taking the stage for an epic 8-minute performance, The Purple One gave viewers vocals, keyboards, guitar solos – and it still wasn’t nearly enough.
Performing cuts from his two recent releases, Art Official Age and PLECTRUMELECTRUM with his band 3rdEyeGirl, Prince’s appearance almost brought on regret that it wasn’t an actual concert. Opening with “Clouds” alongside 3rdEyeGirl’s Lianne La Havas, the legendary singer transitioned into owning his guitar on “Marz,” before slowing it down for “Another Love” as his finale. The set marked his longest televised performance since his halftime show at Super Bowl XLI in 2007.
