Jaden And Willow Smith Tiptoe Between Genius And 'Wait. What?' In Joint Interview
There is no doubt Jaden and Willow Smith are some of the most creative teenagers out. As the offspring of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, it's obvious these two were given immense freedom to explore themselves and their many vast talents.
However, sometimes it may come off a bit...confusing. In an interview with T Magazine, the siblings promote their new records, but also discuss other topics such as the universe, time, school not being real and Driver's Ed. With grace and ease, the two walk a fine line between genius and "Wait. What did you just say?" throughout the interview.
When asked about how their musical process has improved, Willow, 14, dropped this gem:
"Caring less what everybody else thinks, but also caring less and less about what your own mind thinks, because what your own mind thinks, sometimes, is the thing that makes you sad"
Totally spot on, Willow!
Not to be outdone by his little sister, Jaden, 16, offers an interesting perspective about the idea of school and learning.
"Here’s the deal: School is not authentic because it ends. It’s not true, it’s not real. Our learning will never end. The school that we go to every single morning, we will continue to go to."
Makes sense, right? But then he follows it up with this:
"You never learn anything in school. Think about how many car accidents happen every day. Driver’s ed? What’s up? I still haven’t been to driver’s ed because if everybody I know has been in an accident, I can’t see how driver’s ed is really helping them out"
