Grammy nominated rapper 2 Chainz is extending his catalog by plugging with PRPS founder Donwan Harrell to release the capsule collection of fly denim by PRPS.
Last night (Dec. 4), fashion nerds, rappers and journalists were on tap at PRPS’ showroom floor in the bustling Times Square area to get a sneak peek at the unique line of denim.
Also on deck was MTV’s Nadeska Alexis, who moderated an Q&A with Harrell and Tity Boi to discuss the hip-hop and fashion collaboration.
“Basically PRPS is a brand that I organically just wore on my own,” 2 Chainz said. “I thought they were the best denim made, especially for what I do and how I kick it onstage.”
2 Chainz continued, “When he reached out and caught wind of how I wore everything, from tours to red carpet, it was a mutual agreement. We locked in for a couple of hours and we just got some good ideas going. I’m pleased to be a part of this campaign. I believe in my own individual [style]. Being able to look in the mirror everyday and be pleased with what God gave you. So in this instance, I’m glad I got this opportunity. It was original and dope. That’s what happens when music and fashion come together.”
When asked about Chainz creativity, Harrell praised the rapper’s ideas as a representation of his original music.
“It was an awesome opportunity to have him participate,” Harrell said. “He gave up some really good ideas conceptually with the colors and things of that nature. And, it was just my job to take what his entity was and create it. And, I think we did a really good job of that. If you actually look at the project it sort of exemplifies his lyrics. It came together pretty organically.”
The collection will be available at select retail stores on Dec. 15. If you have anywhere between $600-$1,200 to spare, you can a cop a pair of the fresh denim that’ll have the Feds watching. Click here to shop around.
