50 Cent Doesn’t Think Jay Z Will Do Well In Boxing Promotion

Just a while after offering his opinion on Kanye West’s fashion ambitions, 50 Cent is at it again, this time with his two cents on Jay Z. With Hov’s Roc Nation Sports gunning for a spot in the boxing promotion game, the current leader of SMS Promotions says this: Jay ain’t ready.

“I think they gonna clean Jay up,” 50 said in an inteview with BET.com. “The sport of boxing is going to clean him up and he’s going to find out it’s not like any other portion of business that he’s been involved in.”

Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports has just acquired its promoters license and announced its first boxing card to take place at the top of 2015. The company also took on David Itskowitch (formerly of Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions) as its COO. Even so, 50 doesn’t think Hov’s business will flourish.

“You can’t just buy your way into it by purchasing existing companies and stuff like that,” he said. “You look at the roster of fighters…you have to have experienced people around to run it. But boxing is like the fur coat business…we don’t know how much they actually sold the jacket for.”

Meanwhile, Jay Z proclaimed long ago “I am a hustler baby, I’ll sell water to a well.” Stay tuned to see which side of this transaction he comes out on.
