Former ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Contestant Angelea Preston Is Suing Tyra Banks
Anyone remember former ANTM contestant Angelea Preston from cycles 12, 14 and 17? Preston came close to winning on her second appearance on the long-running CW network show but fell short on grabbing the title. However three seasons later on the show’s “All-Stars” edition (Cycle 17), Preston was crowned winner… sort of.
Angelea Preston is suing Tyra Banks and the CW network for $3 million for breach of contract, saying she was wrongly disqualified in the finals for her past life working as an escort. In the suit filed on Wednesday, (Dec. 10) Preston is seeking thirty times the amount of ANTM’s prize money for intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress after cycle 5 winner, Lisa D’Amato was crowned winner in the All-Star round.
During the show’s 2011 final episode, viewers of the show were informed of a change in finalists with no further details. Judge Nigel Barker issued a statement at the time on the unexpected finale, “It turns out, our production team and the network learned information from Angelea that disqualifies her from the competition. It means we’re now going to do our final judging with the remaining two girls, and in the interest of fairness, the producers and the network thought it best to evaluate Allison and Lisa on their own.”
Preston is now speaking out and claims that she should have won the $100,000 CoverGirl contract and the high-fashion spread in Vogue Italia. The finale of cycle 17 was reshot amid confirmation that Preston was an escort although she claims to have informed producers of her lifestyle prior to filming. Angelea is also suing for extreme working conditions as a contestant on the set.
Do you think she has a fair chance in winning for this good this time around?
