Big Sean’s ‘IDFWU’ Track Originally Intended For Justin Bieber

Big Sean’s never-messing-with-my-ex anthem “IDFWU” wasn’t originally made for the Detroit native.

According to one of the song’s producers, Mike Free, the hype track was created with Justin Bieber’s vocals in mind. In an interview with XXL, Free revealed “Originally I think Justin Bieber was supposed to have it; he had posted a video of a snippet and everything, where it was him doing the song. They ended up not taking it and Big Sean got the song, and I’m glad, because we ended up getting a really strong record for hip-hop.”

The melody that the Biebs primarily recorded in the studio was titled “Turn Up,” which you can view in the 11-second snippet below.

The certified gold song also featured soundscapes from DJ Mustard, Key Wane, DJ Dahi and Kanye West.
