Columbus Short Admits To Cocaine Use As Reason For ‘Scandal’ Exit

columbus short admits to cocaine use

In a candid interview with Access Hollywood Live Wednesday (Dec. 10) former Scandal actor, Columbus Short admits to cocaine use as a reason for his exit from the show.

“I was struggling with drugs,” Short, 32, said. “I had a lot on my plate, and you know, I was using unhealthy ways to kind of self-medicate and deal with a lot of heavy duty stuff in my life. I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot, and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family, and I just lost myself back then.”

Short had a challenging year, which included his abrupt departure from the show, along with being charged with misdemeanor spousal battery, and his wife, Tanee McCall-Short, later filed for divorce. He also admitted show creator Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington and his former cast members were aware of his drug use and tried to protect him.
