Couple Moves Wedding Location Due To President Barack Obama's Golf Game
This wedding ceremony wasn't exactly a hole in one. Army captains Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr. planned to tie the knot at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Marine Corps Base Hawaii on Sunday (Dec. 28), but the newlyweds received a surprising call from their Commander in Chief's staff that made their day even more memorable.
President Barack Obama was also set to play a round of golf at the same location and time where the pair were eagerly set to solidify their marriage, but they were asked to move their nuptial location to a completely different area so the leader of the free world could play the full 18 holes.
There's no bad blood between the army officials and the president though, with reports stating the couple were more than happy to relocate their main event, and even received a congratulatory note from Obama. The groom's sister, Jamie McCarthy, confirmed that the couple were still elated that Obama reached out to them despite the sudden change of plans. In an interview with Bloomberg, McCarthy said “He apologized and congratulated them,” adding that it was a “wonderful talk” and mentioned Obama's call "made their day.”
