D’Angelo’s ‘Black Messiah’ Album Will Drop At Midnight, Lead Single Titled ‘Really Love’

Out of nowhere, D’Angelo fans went from reminiscing about the good old days to impatiently awaiting details about his upcoming album. And now, Black Messiah will drop at midnight (Dec. 15).

Since the bomb was dropped about the soul crooner’s first album in 14 years (featuring his band The Vanguard), the singer has released a new track “Sugah Daddy,” and more details have poured in. During a New York City listening event, the singer clarified the meaning of the album’s title, as well as shared its tracklist:

1. “Ain’t That Easy”
2. “1000 Deaths”
3. “The Charade”
4. “Sugah Daddy”
5. “Really Love”
6. “Back in the Future (Part I)”
7. “Till It’s Done (Tutu)”
8. “Prayer”
9. “Betray My Heart”
10. “The Door”
11. “Back in the Future (Part II)”
12. “Another Life”

The lead single for Black Messiah will be “Really Love,” a previously-released track that has been updated, according to a VIBE insider’s notes:

Starts with a little Spanish guitar. And gets into a jazzy nasty strut. They are the most clear and free. Embellishes have been added to this previously released track. Its fuller. Its more sweeping. Lovely is the word.
