Federal Government Lifts Ban On Medical Marijuana
Medical marijuana retailers now have another reason to get lifted.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the federal government has decided to lift its ban on prescribed weed outlets, meaning raids of licensed dispensaries are now a thing of the past.
Bill Piper, lobbyist for the Drug Policy Alliance, said the war on the leafy substance is now over. "Now the fight moves on to legalization of all marijuana," Piper said. "This is the strongest signal we have received from Congress [that] the politics have really shifted. ... Congress has been slow to catch up with the states and American people, but it is catching up."
The legislation was passed in Congress' 1,063 page spending document, which comes on the heels of 32 states legalizing medical marijuana. President Barack Obama also advocated that law enforcement should stop enacting drug regulations that go against state's marijuana protocol and policies.
