Kobe Bryant Tops Michael Jordan On NBA All-Time Scorers List

Kobe Bryant surpassed Michael Jordan on the NBA all-time scorers list during the Lakers’ face-off against the Timberwolves tonight (Dec. 14). Sealing the deal with a free throw in the second quarter, Bryant bested Jordan’s 32, 292 points after being just nine points shy of the No. 3 spot on the list. Now, just Hall of Famers Karl Malone (36,928 points) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387 points) sit ahead of the current Los Angeles star. After clinching the No.3 all-time scoring spot, the game was briefly interrupted to acknowledge Bryant’s feat. He was given the game ball, and exchanged embraces with team members and coach Byron Scott. Jordan also released a statement congratulating Bryant on his latest honor: “I congratulate Kobe on reaching this milestone,” he said. “He’s obviously a great player, with a strong work ethic and has an equally strong passion for the game of basketball.
