Ex-Girlfriend Of NYPD Cop Killer In Critical Condition After Shooting

The man behind the killing of NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in Brooklyn on Saturday (Dec. 21) has been identified by authorities as Ismaaiyl Brinsley, who reportedly shot his ex-girlfriend in Maryland before fleeing to New York. Shaneka Thompson, his first victim that day, is now in critical condition.

According to The Associated Press, Thompson was involved in an argument with Brinsley that morning, which led to her shooting. Seeking help from a neighbor, the 29-year-old member of the Air Force Reserve knocked on the door of Yevette Seay, who called 911. She had been shot in the stomach.

“I told her to hang in there. I was afraid to ask her too many questions because she was hysterical,” Seay said.

Thompson is now in critical condition at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She is expected to survive. Brinsley reportedly had a long criminal rap sheet, including 19 arrests in Georgia and Ohio, as well as a two-year stint in jail for gun possession.
