Protesters And Pro-Cop Supporters Came To A Head At A Rally In New York City
A pro-cop rally took place Friday evening (Dec. 19) in New York City which stirred mixed feelings from onlookers and counter-protesters. A few of the NYPD supporters chanted, “NYPD, thank you for protecting me!” and “Don’t resist arrest!” Their sayings even included the controversial social media hashtag "blue lives matter" Buzzfeed reports, which was met with responses from those against their support of the police department. A few pro-cop backers also wore "I Can Breathe" t-shirts, which can be seen in the image above. Barricades were later set up to keep the two sides apart.

The protest arrived weeks after the nationwide demonstrations in support of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, and countless other unarmed black men and boys who were fatally gunned down by police officers.
