Shots Fired: Nicki Minaj Blasted by Alleged Universal Exec
After Nicki Minaj's album, The Pinkprint, leaked last week, an alleged Universal Music Group executive went in on the Barbie, slandering her business skills and dubbing her latest effort as, "The Sh*tprint."
Producer Jaywan, who claims he works as an A&R executive according to an unconfirmed press release, took his frustrations with Nicki Minaj, real name Onika Tanya Maraj, to Twitter, telling the world how he really felt. His no-holds-barred rant detailed how the company gave Minaj creative control over the marking strategy, which will cause her album sales to come up significantly short.
He didn't stop there, either. According to his disgruntled tweets, it appears the label gave her more control on how to market her new material since, in his opinion, her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, flopped and the label was blamed for it. He said there won’t be a new Minaj album in a few years, but expect to see a re-release of The Pinkprint in May 2015 with four bonus tracks and a documentary.
