Solange, Tyler, The Creator And Q-Tip Show Support For Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks shook things up yet again this week. In an interview with Hot 97, the 23-year-old Harlem rapstress got emotional while addressing the cultural appropriation of hip-hop culture. Teary-eyed, she discussed the “scrubbing” of concepts originally created by black artists by white artists. Which, of course led to (another) exchange of words with Iggy Azalea. But the drama didn’t end there. Banks was also involved in a Twitter spat with Action Bronson last night (Dec. 19). The two exchanged insults, leading Banks to referring to Bronson as a “sub-par Ghostface Killah.” And while the masses reveled in the drama, it seemed a few artists were supportive of Banks. Solange, Tyler The Creator and Q-Tip all gave the young rapper props:

And during Banks’ exchange with Bronson, Q-Tip and Solange came to her defense. Questioning his “People this is your civil rights activist” comment, Bronson rapper offered an explanation:

Tyler, The Creator has also been vocal about the cultural appropriation of hip-hop, while Solange and Q-Tip have spoken out for civil rights following the deaths of Mike Brown and Eric Garner. Banks retweeted their tweets of support.
