Stacy Barthe Does Anita Baker Justice With Her Remake Of ‘Angel’
If you’re going to remake Anita Baker’s “Angel” then it better be good, and Stacy Barthe’s version of the 1987 song is pretty damn good.
John Legend’s protege is gearing up for the 2015 release of her musical debut BEcoming, and while true music heads may already know of her penmanship–she’s written for Katy Perry, Britney Spears and wrote Rihanna’s hit “Cheers (Drink to That)”–many may still be unaware of Barthe’s own vocal prowess.
A snippet of “Angel” first appeared on John Legend’s 2013 Love In The Future, but now the Brooklyn born songstress uses her smooth, commanding vocals to make the soulful ballad all her own.
