Weekend In NFL: Giants Snap 7-Game Losing Streak, Peyton Manning’s TD Streak Ends

Big Blue landed a giant victory in its 36-7 win against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday (Dec. 8). “I don’t want to use that word relief,” coach Tom Coughlin said post-game. “We work hard for that outcome, and we didn’t get it. We finally got a win after many weeks of starving. We feel good about that. We’re going to smile a little bit about the win before we get started on Washington. That’ll be about 10 minutes from now.” NYG wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. also fueled more MVP talk by catching 11 passes for 130 yards and a TD. [Newsday] Brian Hoyer had the Internet asking for Johnny Football, who seemed more than ready to replace the Cleveland Browns’ starting QB during Sunday’s 24-25 loss against the Indianapolis Colts. See: Manziel’s reaction after Hoyer’s incompletion over Colts’ receiver Josh Gordon, where he muttered, “I would’ve fucking hit him.” Welp. [FOX Sports] The Jets still suck. Reports swirled that general manager John Idzik has “alienated” himself from the team’s front office, coaching staff and fans. (There’s also this.) The Minnesota Vikings landed a 30-24 win in overtime during Sunday’s game against the Jets, who are now 2-11 this season. [SI.com] Peyton Manning saw the end of his 51-game streak with at least one touchdown yesterday in the Denver Broncos’ matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Despite Peyton & Co.’s 24-17 victory, the quarterback star failed to surpass Tom Brady’s 52-game streak that ended last season, and Drew Brees’ 2012 record of 54 consecutive games with a TD. A grand jury decided last week not to indict the New York police officer who killed Garner after placing him in a chokehold.
