Yasiin Bey Gives Pivotal Speech On The Recent Eric Garner Decision And Ferguson Protests
Yasiin Bey, affectionately known as Mos Def, is the latest artist to speak out on the grand jury decision involving an NYPD officer's deadly chokehold of Eric Garner and the protests in Ferguson, Mo and nationwide.
What sparked a reaction from presumably every person in America, let alone the global community, the "History" lyricist gave two short speeches on his thoughts about the justice system's recent decisions.
"From a global perspective, where are we?" the Brooklyn native starts off the pivotal message. "We're in a critical time. We're a watershed moment for humanity. I imagine we've been here before and I imagine that we've probably been here for longer than we've realized. I think more of us are becoming more aware of where we are and the urgency to change this miserable condition on this Earth, Malcolm X said, is occurring to many of us, reaffirming itself."
