NYPD Confirms A$AP Yams’ Cause Of Death Remains Unknown
With the hip-hop world reeling over the death of A$AP Yams, much speculation still surrounds the cause of his death. But the details remain unknown, an NYPD spokesperson recently confirmed to The Fader.
Police responded to a 911 call placed by his roommate on Sunday morning (Jan 18). The complaint report, which was filed in Brooklyn’s 90th Precinct, states that Yams was found unresponsive and unconscious. He was later transported to Brooklyn’s Woodhull Medical Center; where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.
Spokesperson for the public affairs department of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York City, Julie Bolcer, said that after an initial examination was performed on his dead body the cause of death was still unknown.
"Following the examination, the cause and manner of death are pending further studies," she stated.
In a recent interview with Vlad TV, A$AP Ant said the cause of death was not drug related. "People keep talking about he overdosed off Xanax or whatever and lean. No. That's not what happened." He explained. "It ain't no overdose.”
Joey Fatts, another one of Yams’ friends, took to Twitter on Monday (Jan. 19) to say the cause of death may have been related to Rodriguez’s condition of sleep apnea. "My brother had severe sleep apnea. And was killing you fuck boys daily," he tweeted. "My brother ain't die from no overdose." Since then, these tweets have been deleted.
