Did These QVC Hosts Make Fun of a Black Girl's Afro on Live TV? [VIDEO]
In a segment on QVC two Caucasian hosts were describing a Dooney and Bourke purse and were caught having a dialogue about frightful hair. Unfortunately their overheard conversation was heard while the camera panned to the model that was sporting a kinky afro. Now, the shopping network has come under fire for the hosts insensitive comments.
While a unidentified black model, sporting her kinky hair in an Afro, was modeling a purse, the hosts exchanged comments about hair:
“You might look back and think, ‘Why’d I wear my hair like that?’ but you’ll still like your purse,” said one host. The other responds, “That’s right. You won’t look at your hair in the picture; you’ll look at your handbag.” As the conversation continued, the model kept her composure, but her facial expressions suggested that she heard the hosts comments.
One of the hosts in question, Sandra Bennett, was confronted on Twitter, asking for answers. Bennett, though apologetic, tweeted they weren't talking about the model at all, but was implying the “timeless-ness” of the purse; "when looking back at old photos of oneself, one tends to cringe at their fashion choices, but in this case of the Dooney & Bourke purse, it's classic look transcends any trends and time." But those tweets has since been deleted.

I think what makes this case a bit fishy is the model did return in a later scene to model a second purse, but her Afro was noticably missing. This time, her hair was flat-ironed into a sleek style. Side eye.
