Iggy Azalea Says Criticism Has ‘100,000 Percent To Do’ With Her Vagina
Iggy Azalea has not gotten a smooth ride as of late. Between Twitter exchanges with Azealia Banks, threats from hack groups and public hip-hop lessons from Q-Tip, T.I.’s Aussie rap protege is a controversial topic of discussion. But if you ask her, it’s not because she’s white.
“Well, they don't say that stuff about Macklemore,” she recently told Vanity Fair. “So, yes, I think it has 100,000 percent to do with the fact that I have a vagina.”
She also seems to agree with a phenomena recently referenced by J.Cole. On his “Fire Squad” track, Cole spits that “white people have snatched the sound,” comparing Iggy, Eminem and other white artists to Elvis Presley. The Grand Hustle first lady makes the same comparison in the interview.
“If you go back to the Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley and Eminem—they've all basically done black music,” she said. “I felt this wasn't that far from what we've seen in music history over and over again.”
Iggy also discussed the slight scandal of her supposed sex tape. While clearing the air that one does not exist, she also held onto the right to make one if she pleased. The “Fancy” rapper also gave her thoughts on twerking, which she said is dead.
“Sometimes things become part of pop culture, but they run their course. I think it's time for it to be over.”
