R. Kelly Finally Speaks On The Aaliyah Biopic [WATCH]
Well we finally know how R. Kelly feels about the Lifetime network's portrayal of the late R&B princess, Aaliyah. Last month, the legend sat in for an interview with The Big Tigger Show in Atlanta and finally spoke out on the biopic.
While Kelly seemed to be prepared for a host of questions, the one about Aaliyah, who he was rumored to have been previously married to, caught him by surprise. "Did you get to see the Aaliyah movie, how did you feel about it? Lot's of people didn't like the Aaliyah biopic, how did you feel about it, being that they had somebody that didn't look anything like you, playing you?" Tigger asked.
"You asked me this question. I didn't know you was gonna ask me that. Listen, I didn't watch that. Once they said they was making a movie and somebody was gon' be playing me? Can't nobody play me, homie." Kelly went on to say, "You got to know me to play me. You don't know me, you can't play me. It's impossible. So why should I watch something that's not real? When I'm real."
Well there it goes. No one close to Aaliyah, while the star was alive spoke highly of the movie and neither did her fans. Should a more authentic movie go into the works, or should Aaliayh's legacy just be lived through her music and fans? Vixens?
