Run The Jewels Bless Covers Of 'Deadpool' And 'Howard The Duck'
It’s always great to see music collide with literature and now, hip hop duo Run The Jewels gets to be a part of that great mash-up with their not one, but two comic cover features.
Kill Mike and El-P and their cult-following hand symbol will grace the covers of Issue 45 of Deadpool and Issue Two of Howard the Duck. When asked how they felt about the coverage, the two had different reactions.
“We didn’t know it was happening,” El-P told Rolling Stone. “We just got told it was happening and we were like, ‘You can’t be serious, that’s not possible, how is that even possible?’ Then they showed us the covers. And it’s fucking crazy.”
Killer Mike, on the other hand, explicitly remembers a conversation between Marvel and their managing team. No matter the legalities, Run The Jewels will cover two incredible comic book series and both are excited about the honor.

The idea for the covers was inspired by the 11-year-old son of Marvel’s EIC, Axel Alonso.
“Seeing the way that my 11-year-old son and his friends were improving off of this really vibrant, iconic image… It got me thinking," he said. "If you’ve got this movement around the world from Bangladesh to Taiwan, people are doing their interpretations of this logo, and I got these roughnecks doing it on the sideline of a football game… Maybe Marvel could weigh in on this and have some fun.”
