Tyrese Sets His Sights On Playing Green Lantern
Tyrese Gibson, star of Fast and The Furious and Transformers is on a one-man mission to play D.C. comic book hero Green Lantern. The 36-year-old entertainer took to his Instagram Tuesday (Jan.27) to post about a dozen mock film posters with him as the lead. Gibson, who obviously believes in the old adage "the early bird gets the worm" is petitioning for the role five years before the film hits theaters, despite the fact reports say Hangover star Bradley Cooper as the lead favorite. For those unaware, D.C.'s Green Lantern is an intergalactic police officer who fights crime and receives power from his magical green ring. The reboot would be a second go round in hopes fans forgot about the 2011 version starring Ryan Reynolds. Although the Martin Campbell directed film earned $231 million in the box office, it was generally received with negative reviews, so maybe Tyrese has a shot. "DETERMINED!!!!!! 20|20 I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure" - @Tyrese #GL "In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!!" Tyrese said on Instagram. Check out his post below.
