Katy Perry Lives Up To The Super Bowl Hype With Lenny Kravitz And Missy Elliott
Katy Perry now sits comfortably amongst a slew of performers that have brought the dramatics to the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. Metaphoric of her ownership of the coveted spot, the pop star entered the field of the University of Phoenix Stadium on a mechanical lion, opening her set with “Roar.”
Belting out her turn-up hit “Dark Horse” (sans Juicy J), Perry transitioned into her first surprise guest, Lenny Kravitz. Offering a rock version of “I Kissed A Girl,” the rock god accented Perry’s early hit with a new edge. Flipping back into the pop realm for “Teenage Dream” and “California Girls,” Perry’s second special guest brought hip-hop appeal to the singer’s Super Bowl act: none other than Missy Elliott.
Emerging onto the stage with her monster smash “Get Ur Freak On,” Missy evoked nostalgia (and mild heart attacks) for viewers as she segued into “Work It” and “Lose Contro.” Perry, serving as a willing sidekick, rocked a jersey dress alongside the femcee legend.
Perry rounded out the Super Bowl halftime show with “Firework,” soaring across the stadium on a shooting star. Watch her full performance in the video above.
