Mo'Nique Says She Actually Wasn't Blackballed By Hollywood
Mo'Nique clarifies her standing with Hollywood after previous reports of being blackballed.
Mo'Nique needs to clear the air about her standing in Hollywood. Last week, The Hollywood Reporter reported that she was having a hard time landing roles after her 2010 Oscar win for her supporting role in Precious. The movie's director, Lee Daniels, told THR in a statement that because of her allegedly difficult demands and "not playing the game," she was blackballed.
According to Mo'Nique, that simply isn't true. She spoke to CNN's Don Lemon to not only speak on her forthcoming indie movie, Blackbird, but also clarify the real reason for her absence from the film world.
"It wasn’t that I was blackballed like Mr. Daniels said," she said. "The phone was ringing and the scripts were coming but the offers that were associated with them made me say 'I can’t accept that.'"
