50 Cent Will Head To Trial For Sex Tape Leaked During Rick Ross Beef
50 Cent's six-year-old beef with Rick Ross is rearing its ugly head yet again.
50 Cent’s 2009 beef with Rick Ross is still rearing its ugly head – six years later.
The G-Unit general is set to head to trial in response to a lawsuit from Rick Ross’ child’s mother. In the heat of the face-off with MMG’s head honcho, Fif leaked a sextape of Lastonia Leviston, garnering over 3.2 million views on YouTube. Claiming that the video was released without her consent, Leviston subsequently sued 50 for emotional distress. Proceedings will begin in June, according to the New York Daily News.
Back in January, 50 attempted to have the case dismissed, but was denied by a Manhattan judge. His deposition states that he retrieved the tape from Maurice Murray, the man originally featured in the tape with Leviston. Blurring out Murray’s face, but not Leviston’s, 50 then altered the video to include himself as the character “Pimpin’ Curly” in an effort to taunt Ross. He also claimed that he was not responsible for posting the video. Following the denial of the case’s dismissal, the Queens rapper requested an October trial, which was also denied.
Now, lawyers on both sides of the case are working to filter the evidence presented to the jury, including a portion of 50 Cent’s statement where he calls Leviston a “freak,” remarking that he was told she “doesn’t mind” if the tape is released.
Jury selection for the upcoming trial begins on May 26.
