Mavin Gaye’s daughter, Nona, told CBS News that she believes the Virginia native’s “Happy” melody sounds a lot like her father’s “Ain’t That Peculiar.” “I’m not gonna lie,” Nona said in a statement to the news site, “I think they do sound alike.” Nona or the family haven’t spoken much on beginning legal action for this international song, stating that they’re “not in that space.”

The legendary R&B singer’s ex-wife, Janis Gaye, also spoke on the situation, stating “We’re just in the moment today and we’re satisfied.”
