Meet Kanye West, The Fine Art Curator
For Kanye West, making waves (okay, conquering) one arena simply isn’t enough. Go big or go home is the mantra. Ye has already plastered his stamp over the music world and is rapidly creeping center stage in the fashion industry. What’s left to take over? Art.
In the newest issue of CR Fashion Book, we get to see Yeezus try his hand at being an art curator. The new art collection spread, entitled “Blud Rush,” includes hand picked works by Richard Prince, Anish Kapoor, Paul McCarthy, and Cecily Brown. Ye was inspired by the fashion pub’s “Jolie Laide” theme, which is a celebration of unconventional beauty.
In true Kanye fashion, the blurb accompanying the collection reads:
To create an expression is close to innoncence. Childhood is stolen from you with every judgment made, innocence stolen with it. You go into a room alone and try to collect the pieces of your life and meet your monster.
Everyone has a monster that hunts them—monsters inside and outside. I have fought monsters. And have turned into a complete monster in the midst of the fight.
Nice to see a renaissance man expanding his craft pool. Pick up a copy of issue 6 of CR Fashion Book on stands now.
