Kanye West's Yeezy Season 1 Show Was A New York Fashion Week Favorite
Kanye West became the crowd favorite during New York Fashion Week.
While the Fall 2015 fashion shows may be over, Kanye West's fashion line is still trending.
Style.com recapped the page views it received to determine which collections people most enjoyed and found that Kanye's adidas “Yeezy Season 1” collection bested Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel by over one million views, that says a lot considering just how new Ye's collection really is.
The exact number of views the rap artist received was 4,578,461. Lagerfeld received 3,405,945 views and Dolce & Gabbana came in third with a little over 2.9 million views.
Style.com's editor in chief, Dirk Standen said, “[I] knew there would be a lot of interest around the collection, but I wouldn't have necessarily predicted that it would beat out Chanel. We've covered celebrity lines before, and we covered Kanye's first two collections he did in Paris a couple of years ago, but they didn't have that kind of impact...obviously he's at a whole new level of fame now, but part of it is, I think, there's a purpose behind his collection that people can't ignore. I think this idea [Kanye] has – which is essentially to bring good design to the masses – I do think it's the right idea at the right time. Obviously, he has a lot of things to figure out in regards to pricing and manufacturing conditions and those kinds of things that go along with trying to produce that kind of line, but I do think the idea is valid and timely, and I think people are responding to that.”
This is definitely Kanye's year, from his fashion activities, to being the headliner for the Glastonbury Festival, receiving an honorary doctorate, and his new single release of “All Day.” What's next for Ye'? Only time will tell. All we're waiting on is that new album.
