Oprah And Common Will Appear On Season Two Of ‘Empire’
Lee Daniels’ brainchild, FOX’s new hit series Empire, just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
As viewers prepare for this week’s two-hour season finale, Daniels has already built up anticipation for Season 2. In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, the show’s creator confirmed that Taraji P. Henson and company would be accompanied by two very special guest stars: Common and Oprah Winfrey. Sharing that the show’s success has made him so happy that he could “pee his pants,” Daniels spilled the beans.
“Yes. Yeah. She’s gonna be on it,” he said of Winfrey, before also confirming Common with, “Oh yeah, for sure. For absolutely sure. We’re gonna have a good time.”
The Oscar award-winning rapper recently expressed his interest in taking part in Empire, remarking that his character would be a deciding factor.
“I see Lee at the gym and they shoot Empire in my hometown of Chicago,” he said. “I would be a part of it if it was something that was the right character. I’m all about being a part of really quality things.”
Empire continues to rake in the accolades during its first season, becoming the most-tweeted-about series ahead of Shonda Rhimes’ powerhouse, Scandal. The show has also seen a steady increase in ratings each week, while the soundtrack is eyeing the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart this week.
Looks like that Lyon reign just won’t let up.
