Timbaland Says He Got Confirmation Of Tink’s Stardom From Aaliyah
Timbaland's campaign for 19-year-old Chicago native Tink just got a major co-sign – from the late Aaliyah.
Hitting the stage for SXSW’s The Fader Fort last night, the producer joined his Moseley Music Group signee onstage, where she offered an interpolation of Aaliyah’s “One In A Million.” Following her take on the R&B classic, Timbo shared a dream he had that confirmed the rapper/singer’s stardom.
“I don’t touch any of my sister’s records. I don’t touch Baby Girl’s records—you know that’s Aaliyah,” he said on stage. “I was riding home one day, sleep. She spoke to me in my sleep and said, ‘She’s the one.’”
During Tink’s SXSW set, Timbaland played a hypeman of sorts, backing the young artist as she graced the festival stage. He also spun a DJ set that included some of his hit collaborations, including Jay Z and Justin Timberlake’s “Holy Grail.” Watch Timbaland reveal his confirmation from Aaliyah in the video below:
