Kim Kardashian On ‘Today’: ‘Say What You Want About Us, But We Work Out Everything As A Family’
Kim Kardashian talks with the 'Today Show' about Bruce Jenner's transition.
Thanks to Kanye West, Kim Kardashian was able to embrace her stepfather Bruce Jenner’s transition. During his 20/20 sit-down with Diane Sawyer, Jenner revealed that the reality starlet’s husband was instrumental in bringing her around – so much so, that she is the first of the Kardashian clan to give an interview about the announcement that rocked timelines on Friday night (Apr. 24).
This morning (Apr. 27), Kim appeared on the Today Show to discuss with host Matt Lauer how the family has begun dealing with Jenner’s decision. Reaffirming her support for him, she expressed that she was happy that Jenner will be “living his life the way he wants to live it.”
“I know it’s not something that you or I could ever fully understand, but I don’t even think we have to,” she said. “I think as long as he is happy and he wants to live his life however he wants to live it, that just makes me happy, and I support him one hundred percent.”
Kim also shared that her family has been putting their resources to use in order to cope with the transition. From family therapy to reaching out to the GLAAD organization, she shared that the adjustment was a “daily process.” She also said that she is confident that Jenner will be able to handle the heightened publicity.
“I think that he is prepared for it,” she told Lauer. “I think that he has waited almost 65 years to make this decision, whether he’s kept it to himself or not, he’s lived with it. And I think that when you’re finally ready to be your true self, then you’re prepared for anything.”
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also wanted to make one thing clear about her family.
“Say what you want about us, but we work out everything as a family, and we have the best communication, and we are so in sync with each other.”
