Meredith Vieira Checks Stacey Dash On Gender Inequality In Pay
Stacey Dash took yet another "L" on television, this time against Meredith Vieira.
Appearing on today’s episode of The Meredith Viera Show, Dash went to bat for her views on gender inequality in pay. Taking the position that the disparities in salary for men and women are being used as an reason not to excel, the Fox News host urged women to “stop making excuses.”
“It’s an excuse. Stop making excuses,” Dash said. “If there are opportunities, seize them. And be prepared for them. And be the best, if that’s what it takes. If you have to be extraordinary, be extraordinary.”
Vieira fired back with statistics, referencing that that woman make an average of 78 cent to every dollar a man makes. She also cited the case of her 22-year-old daughter, who will not have equal pay to men until she is 65 years old. Visibly flustered, Dash attempted to get her bearings by acknowledging Vieira’s success. Stating that women should not play “the victim,” Vieira corrected her by saying she is “pissed off.”
“If you want to be pissed off about it, then be pissed off about it and work harder for it,” Dash replied. “But I don’t think us, you know, complaining about it, because there was a law passed that we get paid equal pay.”
Viera replied with a simple fact, “Except we don’t." Checkmate.
