Taraji P. Henson’s Cookie Meets ‘Sesame Street’s’ Cookie Monster On ‘SNL’

Movies & TV

Taraji P. Henson made her triumphant debut on Saturday Night Live last night (Apr. 11). Taking on the coveted role of host for the classic sketch comedy show, the Empire star was not remiss about the implications it had on her career. In her opening monologue – a gospel-inspired musical act – Henson hilariously declared she “made it.”

“After twenty years in show business, white people finally know who I am!” she exclaimed before leading a choir in celebration.

Henson also brought her now-signature character Cookie along for the ride to meet the original bearer of the snack name, Cookie Monster. Hitting Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, Snuffleupagus and the rest of the Sesame Street gang off with insane levels of sass, Henson’s channeling of TV’s new favorite boss chick was easily the highlight of her appearance. The actress also took on parodies of Game Of Thrones, Nicki Minaj and the classic film A League Of Their Own.
