Big Pun’s Son Chris Rivers Drops Fire ‘You Ain’t Recognized’ Freestyle

He gets it from his father.

Big Pun’s son, Chris Rivers, does his father’s legacy justice on a new freestyle released yesterday (Jun. 5). Snagging up the late rapper’s 1998 Capital Punishment track, “You Ain’t A Killer,” the formerly-dubbed “Baby Pun” gets straight to business with surefire bars. The track then transitions into The LOX’s “Recognize,” from their 1998 We Are The Streets album, where Rivers’’ lyrical assault continues.

In just one minute and 16 seconds, the heir to the Bronx throne proves he is more than deserving of a shot at the crown, with slick wordplay and cadences reminiscent of Pun himself.

“Part Hannibal, smart cannibal, part mechanical/ Bronx admiral, can’t touch me, I’m part intangible/ Part animal, part flammable, hard to handle too/ Known to grow explosively homie, I’m part botanical,” he raps.

While he briefly touches on the absence of his father in the short freestyle, Rivers has consistently paid homage to Pun over wax and on Instagram. In a recent post, the young spitter wrote a loving note: “Thank u pops for not only passing down wisdom, knowledge, strength and talent but also those devilish good looks and charm #RIP to the #GOAT #DragonsUP#IFeelAwesome.”
