This Is Really Happening: Disney To Remake 'Sister Act' Movie
After 23 years, Sister Marie Clarence is back, y'all.
Couldn't get enough of the classic 1992 Sister Act film starring Whoopi Goldberg? Disney confirmed on Tuesday (June 2) the pioneering musical flick is getting a makeover with Cinderella producer Ally Sherman and Legally Blonde writers Kristen Smith and Carol McCullah.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, details about the remake are under wraps, and it's unclear whether Goldberg will reprise her role. The movie generated $232 million worldwide, while the 1993 sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, grossed $57 million in the U.S.
The film, which also starred Maggie Smith and Kathy Najimi, was turned into a Tony Award winning Broadway musical in 2011.
