DJ Rob Swift Kickstarter's His New Album, X-Files: Lost & Deleted
It's been a long career road for notable turntablist DJ Rob Swift. Starting out in the early 90s as a upstart battle DJ with the X-Men crew, Swift rose the ranks and became the unit's fearless spokesman. Boasting a line up of the core four (Roc Raida, Mista Sinista, Total Eclipse and Swift), the X-Men took on rival DJ teams and went on to release five albums under their professional moniker of The X-ecutioners. They even hit on the Billboard Hot 100 single chart with "It's Going Down" alongside alternative rock 's Linkin Park member, Mike Shinoda in 2002.
All while making history as an innovative icon collective, Swift was working on his solo projects to enhance his personal brand. Swift's albums, recorded on major labels and independently, could be used as subject matter in his current role as music professor at the New School for Liberal Arts in New York City. Right now though, his past experience in making full length albums is meeting the future of crowd sourcing as he launches his Kickstarter campaign for a Rob Swift "Greatest Hits" type album.
X-Files: Lost & Deleted is a deep travel through the journey of Swift from promising wax spinner to professional musician. He details the experience in his own words as such:
"For the last 5 years or so I've been flirting with the idea of putting together a "Rob Swift's BEST OF" type of album. After thinking about it for quite sometime I finally decided to let the ideas I had for it swirling in my head out in the open and started working on X-Files: Lost & Deleted this past March. Unlike other "BEST OF..." albums, this LP just doesn't contain an assortment of music of mine from various solo projects. What you'll be listening to on X-Files: Lost & Deleted is a collection of remixes of my best work. It actually ends up sounding like an entirely new album. I also added bonus, unreleased demos of mine which will only be available to those who donate to my Kickstarter. This will be my 5th solo, full length album."
