Let Lil Wayne's 'Free Weezy Album' Be The Soundtrack To Your Independence Day
You won't have to wait much longer for Lil Wayne's 'Free Weezy Album.'
The Fourth of the July this year celebrates the "land of the free" and the Free Weezy Album release. During a tour stop in Anaheim to promote his Sorry 4 the Wait 2 mixtape, Lil Wayne let fans know the wait was over for his latest LP. He took a break in between his performances of "Steady Mobbin'" and "Glory" to discuss the news on Tuesday (June 17). "I have a new album coming out," he said. "It's called FWA. It'll be out Fourth of July."
Legal issues between the Young Money leader and his record label kept fans from hearing Tha Carter V. He tweeted in December, "To all my fans, i want u to know that my album won't and hasn't been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it." But in February, Tunechi hinted at a new project in the works with no signs of delay.
"The Free Weezy Album...komin soon#FWA," he said to kick off the series of #FWA everything tweets. Then, the release of his single "Glory" on Tidal further increased the hype.
"I honestly gotta say that this #FWA album is my best work yet! I won't let u down as a fan. Dis sh!t is a beast! Ok let me get bak 2da booth," he tweeted back in April.
In July, FWA will steal the title of the rapper's 17th album overall and 11th album as a solo artist (not counting the unreleased Tha Carter V). However, Lil Wayne did say at a March performance that both albums would be released in the near future.
