From Brooklyn To Chicago: Rick Gonzalez Spits “The Real”


Hollywood actor Rick Gonzalez continues to build his reputation in hip-hop with “The Real”, video debut off his newly released Divine Mechanics mixtape.

The Paul Haymon-directed clip follows the Brooklyn MC through the streets of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, a close knit Mexican-American community, laden with street art and local shops.

“Working with a talented young director named @phlikiddchris_ who was inspired by the photography of Paul D’Amato while listening to “The Real” off of #DivineMechanics,” the actor turned rapper wrote on Instagram. “So we shot a video in the neighborhood of Pilsen, in Chicago where Paul (D’Amato) shot his photography.”

Divine Mechanics boasts production from Statik Selektah, Jansport J and Dual Output, and feature verses by Prodigy, AG Da Coroner, Rapsody, Blu and the legendary Kool G. Rap.
