Meet Vogue’s Breakout Star And Dominican Stunner, Lineisy Montero
Fashion runways have long been void of black and brown faces. It’s all too easy tracking the number of WOC on mainstream fashion magazines. Alas, even the game of haute couture is being turned on its head. Enter Lineisy Montero, one of three afrocentric bada**es on the latest cover of Teen Vogue helping defy industry standards and changing the game.

Along with Egyptian-Moroccan Imaan Hammam and French-Ivorian Aya Jones, Santo Domingo’s afro’d beauty is decked out in denim and glowing under the headline “The New Faces Of Fashion”.
Back in February, Montero ripped the runway for Prada, a brand that notoriously employs Eurocentric standards of beauty. Shortly after, Vogue declared the 19-year-old the season’s “breakout star”, further cementing Montero’s mainstream success. She has now strutted for a number of leading fashion houses, including Louis Vuitton, Celine, Stella McCartney and Givenchy, which ultimately led her to Prada campaign.
“Thank God for another dream archived,” she wrote on Instagram. “Prada [campaign] F/W 2015 by #stevemaisel. Right now I can not find words to show how grateful I am, Thank you for trusting me @prada and put in my hands so important work and for [believing] in me since the beginning. I will always be grateful.”
