Serena Williams Racks Up Her Sixth Wimbledon Win And 21st Grand Slam Title

Modern-day superhero/tennis superstar Serena Williams just picked up her 21st major title on Saturday (July 11) by racking up her sixth Wimbledon win. In her fourth consecutive Grand Slam win, Williams has completed the second “Serena Slam” of her career by holding all four titles at once. She beat Spain’s Garbine Muguruza, 6-4, 6-4 after a slow start,

The tennis phenom is also on pace to make history. If she claims another title at the upcoming U.S. Open, Williams will be the first player to win all four majors since legendary German player Steffi Graff. She also one win behind Graff for most major titles won by a player in the Open era, and two wins behind the all-time leader, Australia’s Margaret Court Smith. She also now the oldest woman to win a Grand Slam title at age 33.

“I can’t believe I’m standing here with another ‘Serena Slam,’ ” Williams said. “It’s pretty cool.”
