Whoopi Goldberg Says She Still Stands By Bill Cosby
After months of sexual misconduct and rape allegations swirling around Bill Cosby, the 77-year-old admitted to using the sedative Quaalades with the intent of sleeping with women back in 2005 in unsealed court documents made public. Now, both his supporters and detractors are sounding off.
Singer-songwriter, Jill Scott, who was dragged on social media for standing by Cosby, recently took to Twitter to say she was disgusted with the once beloved actor and was hurt by the 2005 deposition findings.
However, host of ABC’s The View, Whoopi Goldberg, who also supported Cosby at the height of his allegations and says she still stands by him.
“I’m sorry the ‘80s, they weren’t fun for everybody, clearly. I think it is again, we’ll see what happens as more information comes out. I don’t like snap judgments because I’ve had snap judgments made on me so I’m very very careful. Save your texts, save your nasty comments, I don’t care. And I say this because this is my opinion and in America, still, I know it’s a shock, we’re actually innocent until proven guilty. He has not been proven.”
Raven Symone also added her two cents to the conversation and said due to her loyalty to Cosby, she didn’t feel comfortable passing judgment.
“It’s about the information, it’s about the actual court going on. I don’t really like to talk about it that much because he’s the reason I’m on this panel in the first place. He gave me my first job. But at the same time, you need the proof and then I’ll be able to give my judgment here or there.
More than two dozen women have come forward all accusing Cosby of sexual misconduct. In October 2014, comedian Hannibal Burress called Cosby a rapist during his stand up in Philadelphia, which set off the firestorm of controversy. Model Janice Dickenson, Beverly Johnson and a host of other women all came forward accusing Cosby of drugging them.
