A$AP Rocky On Meek Mill-Drake Feud: “There Had To Be A Loser, And It Was Meek”

News

A$AP Rocky had some choice words for Drake and Meek Mill, and they were some of the heartiest heard yet.

Pretty Flacko sat down with MTV to pay unexpected homage to MMG’s heavyweight and Toronto’s hailed OVO chief for the hip-hop hostility that brewed its way from social media into the recording studio. Though many have saluted Drizzy as the disputable champ of the feud for his two installments of diss tracks that took a considerable amount of shots at Meek, A$AP thanks both rappers for what he feels the hip-hop world needed.

“Watching this was like watching the Super Bowl,” the “L$D” rapper said. “I wanna say thank you to Drake and Meek Mill, because that’s good sportsmanship. For real, that s**t was fun. I needed that.” He compared watching it all go down to that of a Super Bowl experience, adding that it was fun for him and the rest of rap.

A$AP also shared his thoughts on the weighty topic of ghostwriting, expressing that he feels the general public doesn’t care about rap’s use of the controversial practice, but he does. He was sure to add that though he wasn’t accusing Drake of ghostwriting, he identifies ghostwriting as cheating. “If somebody helped Drake, I dunno, that might be considered cheating, but whoever wrote that — not saying Drake ain’t write it, I’m quite sure he did — that s**t was insane,” A$AP said.

After two of Drake’s viral diss hits spun fans into a meme-frenzy, dozens of fellow industry leads and even major corporations weighed in on the digital drama. Most of the criticism seemed to work in favor of the self-dubbed “Champagne Papi” as his blunt shots taken in the diss tracks subtly overshadowed the ghostwriting accusations. After both installments, most felt it was safe to say that Meek Milly took that L, including A$AP.

“I think Meek will be fine,” he said. “I think he has a fanbase of his own, and I think that at the end of the day, there had to be a loser in the outcome, and it was Meek. So it is what it is.”
