BJ The Chicago Kid’s sandy vocals are tailor made to cover anybody, regardless of era. Ruffling through the catalog of Raphael Saadiq could lead to many choices for the Chicago crooner, but he opted to give a 2015 feel to the Instant Vintage track, “Charlie Ray.”

BJTCK’s rendition of “Charlie Ray” packs all the soul of the original in and then some. The kicker? His flip of the Saadiq classic is one of six tunes being covered and re-released as part of E&J’s Generations of Soul series. Even more good news you ask? BJ, along with Saadiq and Lee Fields, are joining forces for a three-track EP.
