Morgan Freeman’s Step-Granddaughter Was Stabbed To Death In New York
E’dena Hines, the step-granddaughter of Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman, was stabbed to death early Sunday morning (August 16), according to reports.
The 33-year-old was found lying in the street outside of her New York apartment at about 3am where she suffered from multiple stab wounds to her torso. A 30-year-old man was taken into custody by police at the scene and then taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
In a statement, Freeman reflected on his granddaughter’s life, referring to her as a star.
The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer,” he said. “Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person.
“Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
Hines, who was the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife, was also an actress and studied at New York University’s Graduate Acting Program, and also taught students in her native Memphis, TN.
The investigation is on going.
